The school is very excited about this new opportunity for their students to experience the whole process of growing, harvesting and then cooking their own produce in the school’s food technology department. The school is also very grateful to a number of local businesses  including Fleet Timber for donating wood for the raised borders and a picnic bench to the project. The top soil was donated by Hill Gate Nurseries, Moat Road Nurseries provided a huge range of small vegetable plants Marshland stores and Splinters donated small garden tools and gardening essentials

Zoe Clarke (Hospitality and Catering Teacher) from the school said “we were really interested in creating a school garden, we saw the project as a great opportunity to extend the learning of our Hospitality and Catering students allowing them to use seasonal produce they have grown themselves.  Craig Falco (Head of Department) said this garden has only been possible due to the labour from Mars and the hard work from Hospitality and Catering Teacher who gave up her free time to source the timber, plants, top soil, shed and tools".

The work has been organised by Nicola Marray-Woods, who said, “This is the fifth year of running the School Grounds Development Project for Mars and each team works so hard to create an area that will hopefully last for years to come.”
