Year 8 Great Exhibition
Year 8 have been on a journey through the Industrial Revolution, learning about the growth of factories, Britain’s influence around the world and The Slave Trade.
We have been looking at this from the perspective of the British Empire considering all the way through our learning ‘how Britain benefited and some people suffered as a result of our growth the biggest empire the world has ever seen’.
The Great Exhibition in 1851 was the first international exhibition of manufactured products. It was organised by Prince Albert, and held in a Crystal Palace in Hyde Park, London. The main idea of the exhibition was to show off the strength of the British Empire and encourage the sale of the products made as a result of our growing empire.
